Faroe Seafood will comply to the EU IUU regulatitions on the 1st of January 2010. Faroe Seafood will rely on its internal digital traceability system, and will be able to produce the Catch Certificate automatically as a part of the shipment of goods.

For fish from Faroe Islands imported into EU via Hamburg following will apply.

1. Catch certificate for each shipment of fish has to be send by e-mail or fax to the ministry of agriculture and food this needs to be done three days before arrival of the vessel by the importer / consignee. Each catch certificate will then get a registration number which needs to be filled in the customs clearance documents.

2. 2009 Catch: A statement will need to be presented to the authorities in order to identity 2009 catch.

For fish from Faroe Islands imported into EU via UK following will apply.

1. Although the regulations state that certificates can be presented electronically, Port Health are not able to electronically authorise them and have stated that they will accept notification by e-mail for goods such as fresh fish, where notification time limits could become a problem, but do require hard copies of all catch certificates to be presented for authorisation.

2. 2009 Catch: A Catch Certificate Statement will need to be presented to the UK Authorities in order to identity 2009 catch. This would then be presented along with CVED (if required) to be then authorised by Port Health in order to release consignment.

3. 03 Tariff goods outside the regulations: There will be a number of tariff headings outside the IUU regulations which will be caught up within the snag from customs, these goods will require a statement from Port Health declaring that they are outside the regulations’ and then presented to HMRC in order to progress clearance i.e. farmed salmon.
