Cod (Gadus Morhua)

15% of Faroe Seafood's export. Cod is caught all around the Faroe Islands and in the Barents Sea. The Faroese season is all through the year, but the season is at its height in March-April and in June-July. The main catches are made by using bottom trawl, long-line and jigging. The catch is mainly on 100-250 m depth where the ocean temperature is approx. 6-8° Celsius. The average size of the fish is 2-5 kg when approx. 4-7 years old. Cod is available fresh and frozen as fillets and portions, and in FAROE Brand for Retail & Catering.

Saithe (Pollachius Virens)

12% of Faroe Seafood's export. Saithe is caught around the Faroe Islands. The Faroese season is all through the year, but the season is at its height from late summer to early autumn. Saithe is caught by trawl at a depth of 50-200 m when the saithe is 4-9 years and weights 2-7 kg. Saithe lives in a temperature of 6-12° Celsius which is permanent around the Faroe Islands, because of the perfect environment created by the warm Gulf Stream mixing with the ice-cold Polar streams. Saithe is available all through the year, fresh and frozen.

Haddock (Melanogrammus Aeglefinus)

15% of Faroe Seafood's exports. Haddock is mainly caught around the Faroe Islands. The season is at its height from late spring to early summer. Haddock is caught at a dept of 50-200 m by using trawl and long-line. Haddock is also caught in the Barents Sea by big factory trawlers. Usually, the Haddock is caught at the age of 3-5 years and at a weight of 1-2 kg. Haddock is available all through the year, fresh and frozen.

Redfish(Sebastes Marinus)

10% of Faroe Seafood's exports. Redfish is caught on deep water 100-500 m when the fish is 1-2 kg. The skin colour is red or orange. Age is hard to determine as the fish grows very slowly. Faroe Seafood supplies of redfish fillets are available all through the year, fresh and frozen. Furthermore, there is seasonal catching of Sebastes Mentella from the Irming Sea. The season is at its height from early spring to early summer

Atlantic Salmon(Salmo Salar)

15% of Faroe Seafood's export. Salmon is farmed in the clean, ice-cold waters surrounding the Faroe Islands providing ideal conditions for farming. The fish farmings are situated in close distance to the plants, thereby securing the freshness of the products. Faroe Seafood is vertically integrated in the production and by being at the source of the supply, Faroe Seafood is able to offer high quality products at competitive prices. Salmon is available all through the year.

Cold Water Shrimps (Pandalus Borealis)

30% of Faroe Seafood's export. Cold Water Shrimps are mainly caught in the North Atlantic region. Faroe Seafood is the biggest Faroese exporter of shrimps. The cooked shell-on shrimps are available all through the year and are normally packed in 5 kg bulk boxes. Furthermore, shrimps are available in 500g and 800g retail poly bags as well as 800g retail boxes. A special production of raw shrimps for the Japanese market is packed in 1 kg boxes. All processed and frozen at sea by most advanced factory trawlers.
